For those who don’t know too much about us – The Farside is an organisation set up in 1996 that brings young people and youth workers together from churches in Poole and the surrounding area, for youth celebrations and for practical outreach projects. It is run by and on behalf of all the churches in the area.

·        Celebrations: These take place on a Sunday evening on a bi-monthly basis. (Works out to 5 celebrations a year as we exclude August in our planning!) They are attended each time by up to 350 young people from over 30 different churches. Young people assist in the planning and presentation of these events.

·        Practical projects: Farside runs various practical projects alongside local churches. We have a drop in outreach project that can operate in different localities throughout the area. At present this is running at St John’s church hall in Upper Parkstone. There is also the ‘360 project’ that is encouraging young people from across the churches to work together to unite in action against poverty, injustice and other issues that the young people are concerned about.

·        Residential: Farside runs training weekends for young people from across the area. The next one is planned for October 5th to 7th October 2007 at Hooke court near Beaminster. Young people aged 12 to 18 are encouraged to take part.

·        Funding: We are entirely dependent on giving from local churches to sustain the work of The Farside.
